Nebraska

Nebraska’s weather experiences four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and winters are cold throughout the state. The entire state experiences uniform snowfall during the winter months. However, rainfall varies considerably throughout the state. The Nebraska panhandle is more arid than the rest of the state and both rain and snow are less intense in that portion of the state. As a rule, the eastern portion of the state receives substantially more rainfall than the western portion, sometimes up to three times more.
Because of the arid nature of much of the state, Nebraska lawn care experts recommend choosing grass types that are tolerant to drought and that can survive on small amounts of water. One of the best types of grass for Nebraska lawns is a blend of bluegrass and fescue grass. This type of grass produces a thick even lawn that is very visually appealing. Additionally, this grass develops an extensive root system, sometimes up to six to eight feet deep. This allows the grass to withstand drought well and makes it a very low maintenance grass.
Another recommended grass type for Montana lawns is buffalograss. Buffalograss is the only grass that is native to North America and because it is so well adapted for the climate, it is a very sturdy and low maintenance turf type. This grass only needs about a quarter of an inch of water to survive, and so extra watering is only necessary during times of extreme drought. Additionally, the lawn does not need to be mowed often and is very tolerant to weeds and insect pests.
