Georgia

Georgia’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its location in the southern portion of the United States creates a humid climate with lots of precipitation. This leads to hot, humid summers and relatively mild winters. However, the northern part of the state is significantly colder than the southern portion. In fact, many different grass types are recommended by Georgia lawn care experts based on your location in the state.

For homeowners in the southern portion of the state, most types of warm type grasses are suitable. These include Bermuda grass, St. Augustine grass, and all types of Zoysia grass. Although these types of grass can also survive well in northern Georgia, some other types of grass should also be considered. Fine Fescue is one option that is much more tolerant to cold weather, making it a good choice for northern Georgia.

As with any location, proper treatment of your lawn will result in a healthier, more attractive turf. Important components of Georgia lawn care includes regular aeration and mowing, using the correct fertilizers, and making sure the lawn gets enough water.
