California

Due to its large size, California experiences a large range of weather conditions. The southern portion of the state is generally warmer and doesn’t experience much rain. The Pacific Ocean acts as a moderator, keeping temperatures from reaching extreme highs or lows. The northern part of California, home to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, has a much colder climate and can receive up to 50 inches of annual rainfall.

Because of this wide variety, choosing the appropriate lawns for a California home or business can be a challenge. Bermuda grass is a good option of southern Californians because this grass likes lots of sun and can tolerate droughts well. It is also an excellent choice for parks, sports fields and golf courses because it can withstand heavy traffic. In the more northern parts of the state, California lawn care professionals usually recommend Fescue grasses. This type of grass is able to easily tolerate lower temperatures and are able to stay green year-round, making it an attractive choice.
