Arkansas

As a part of the southern United States, Arkansas experiences a generally warm and humid climate. Summers are especially hot, and humidity during these months usually experience about 65% humidity. Rainfall is also fairly heavy with most months receiving at least 4 inches of rain. Because of the warm, humid climate there are several types of grasses that are recommended for homeowners in the state. Some of the best choices are Bermuda grass, Centipede grass, or Saint Augustine grass all of which are able to withstand hot temperatures and direct sunlight.

Although well-suited for Arkansas’ climate, these grasses still have the potential for problems. One of the most common Arkansas lawn care challenges is managing the “brown spot” due to the area’s high levels of humidity. Another common problem is grease spots which refer to slimy brown patches that appear on your lawn, after times accompanied by a white fungus. These too can spread if not handled properly. Arkansas lawn care professionals can be an excellent resource in handling these and other lawn care challenges.
